![]() I have absolutely no issue with people preferring standalone, hell, I even think that people that have a "political" grudge against RA are understandably on their right (obviously). The default theme for ages was xmb which is almost exactly the Sony PS3 theme Īnd nowadays it's ozone (you can still use other themes tho) which is perfectly fine and rivals any of the high end graphical UI for standalone emulators (Dolphin/PCSX2) If people like it and use it that's also great but it's not for me I guess Maybe retroarch has changed in the year that I've tried it but I don't really care at this point. ![]() I much rather use specific emulators separately and learn to configure them on their own. I tried using it because it's really popular (you can see it in this list also) but it was super ugly to use and clunky. But also because those are some of my fav systems. Mainly because I like their interfaces, the amount of work that goes behind them, and how amazing they run. My personal all time favorite emulators are Dolphin, Duckstation, PCSX2, PPSSPP, and Rosalie's Mupen GUI. ![]() I usually use my chromebook or 3DS to run my snes/nes games. I stick to using snes9x and fceumm, but it would be interesting to see how much of a difference it is to use mesen and bsnes on my better computer. I never thought about using Mesen or bsnes, I mostly run snes and nes emulators on lower end hardware as I find it needless to run them on a higher end device. It really is fantastic since it not only has the latest GlideN64 graphics plugin, but also Parallel and angrylion for those on beefier hardware. I'm glad to see Rosalie's Mupen GUI on here, that's what I've been using and I don't see much people mention it. Older systems tend to have multiple emulator choices while newer systems have just one. But for other systems this list is helpful for determining which emulator is better to use since there's several emulators for them. For some systems, it's a no brainer as there's one emulator choice (I'm looking at you gamecube, wii, ps2, ps3, ps4, wii, wiiu, switch, psp, 3DS). Very good list! This is very accurate to what I heard are the best emulators over the years. ~ (Flycast□□ (Sega Naomi, Naomi 2, Atomiswave)) DEmul (Sega Naomi, Naomi 2, Hikaru, Atomiswave) SNK - Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color Mednafen/Beetle PCE (FAST)/SuperGrafx□□ PCSX2/LRPS2□□(achievements in standalone version only) This is for PC emulators, but RetroArch is on mobile and other platforms too. Also serves as a list of best RetroArch cores. Here are the current recommended emulators for each console according to the Emulation General Wiki in a more simple overview.
